Technology Trend for Crystalline Silicon Solar Manufacturing Equipments
The solar industry is changing. There is significant focus on delivering technology solutions which increases solar cell efficiency and reduces the overall cost of solar. At Applied Materials, we envision that the next generation crystalline silicon fab will evolve from the current nine process steps to at least 14 process steps in order to deliver higher and higher cell efficiencies. We believe that the addition of these process steps will result in at least 3 points of efficiency and increased efficiency results in reduced costs. In addition to increasing cell efficiencies, we are leveraging materials reduction, factory scale and automation to enable the factory of the future today.

Present and Near Future in Fabrication System of Thin Film Si Solar Cell
The solar cell manufacturing industry is starting to recover from the effects of the recession. There is no fear of supply problems regarding materials for thin-film silicon cells, and there remains a lot of room for improvement in terms of improving efficiency and reducing costs. Against this backdrop, this session will report on the position of thin-film silicon solar cells, the situation regarding production equipment and the outlook for the future.
