Technical Seminar 7: Thin-Film Solar Cells

-Discuss the Thin-Film PV Technology-

The year of 2009 is recorded as the first year when a thin-film PV technology took the world top position on the annual production volume of solar-PV modules due to rapidly growing CdTe solar cells. Thin-film experts will discuss whether or not CdTe keeps this lead or other thin-film PV technologies substitute against CdTe.

Agenda

Part 1 The Latest Technological Trend of Thin-Film PV Modules

14:35–14:50

The Technical Trend of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Solar Cell Technology

Yasuhiro Yamauchi

Yasuhiro Yamauchi
Acting General Manager, Solar Cell Power System Business Unit
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had started on production of the tandem solar cells in Oct. 2006. We have been developing the high speed deposition on large area substrate for reduction of solar cell's production cost. Using 60MHz VHF plasma technology, the micro crystalline tandem solar cells are made by deposition rete of 2.5nm/s on the glass substrate of 1.5 square meter area. We have developed the high speed deposition technology applying to more than 4 square meter area this time. The recent technical trend is described in this presentation.

14:50–15:05
